Leave what matters to the people who matter.

Create a digital vault with your personal messages, final wishes, passwords, accounts and documents. The vault only becomes available to the people you choose when it's truly time.

How it works

  1. 1

Lock your secrets in a digital vault

Add personal messages, logins you want to pass on, account details and documents. Everything is encrypted before it leaves your phone or laptop. Log in from any device, with two-factor login strongly recommended.

  2. 2

    Name your nominees

Choose who should receive it and add their details, so we can check it's really them. They hear nothing from us until the day it matters.

  3. 3

    Set their questions

Write three questions for each of your nominees, ones only they could answer. Each nominee's answers become their own key to your vault, and we never see them.

  4. 4

    We check in with you

Every few months, one tap to say you're fine. Miss it and we follow up with you by email for weeks before anyone else is contacted.

  5. 5

Verified hand-over after you have gone

Nominees complete a verification interview, then automated checks and a waiting period. AI is used to interpret answers that aren't word-perfect, so small differences don't lock out the right people. Only then do their answers open your vault, on their own devices.

Only your nominees can open your vault.

No cards, no codes

Your nominees don't need a password or a key. Leave a message in your will or a letter telling them to visit savemysecrets.com, and our verification assistant takes it from there. We also email your nominees when the time comes, so they don't have to rely on finding your note.

Their answers are the key

Your vault opens only with answers your nominees know plus our automated release after checks. Neither works alone, and we never see the answers. We never hold a key to your vault. Only your nominees' answers can open it, after our automated checks.

Who they are, checked

Before anything is released, we check your nominees are who they say they are: a verification interview, automated checks and a waiting period. AI helps interpret answers that aren't exact; it doesn't skip those steps.

Why we can't see your data.

Locked on your device

When you save, your phone or laptop encrypts everything using a key made from your master password. That password never reaches us, so all we receive is encrypted data we can't read.

Your nominees' keys, not ours

Each nominee's copy is locked with a key made from their own answers to your questions. They type and check the answers on their own device, and the answers are never sent to us.

Check it yourself

Every line of our code is public on GitHub, so anyone can confirm that what's in your vault is encrypted before it leaves your device.

Questions

What if my nominees forget their answers?

Each nominee has their own questions, so if one forgets, another can still open your vault. Each needs two of their three answers, and capitals, spaces and accents don't matter. You can also list other ways they might say it. Every check-in reminds you to make sure your questions still make sense. But if none of your nominees can answer, no one can open your vault, including us. That's what keeps it private.

Can you see what's in my vault?

Your vault is encrypted before it leaves your phone or laptop, and the key to open it is made from answers we never see. All our code is published on GitHub so you can see exactly what we store and how the encryption works.

What encryption do you use?

AES-256-GCM, the same standard banks and governments use. Your master password is turned into a key on your own device using 600,000 rounds of PBKDF2, which makes guessing it extremely slow.

What if I forget my master password?

We can't reset it or recover your vault, because we never have your password. That's what keeps your vault private. Keep it somewhere safe.

What if I'm in hospital or travelling?

You choose how often we check in (monthly to yearly) and how long we keep trying you (2 to 12 weeks). Before anything is released we make one final check that you don't respond, with email alerts. One tap stops everything.

What can I store?

Anything you'd want someone to have if you weren't here: passwords, bank and pension details, where documents are kept, and instructions.

Can I leave different secrets for different people?

Not yet. Right now everyone you name as a nominee gets access to the same vault. We may add this in the future. For now, if you want to leave different secrets for different people, create a separate SaveMySecrets account for each, using a different email address for each one.

What stops someone pretending to be one of my nominees?

They'd have to pass a verification interview, automated checks, and a final waiting period. AI helps interpret answers that aren't exact, but it doesn't skip the waits or the other checks. Even then, without a nominee's answers, the vault stays locked. Every attempt is logged, and repeated wrong answers mean longer waits.

Why do you use AI?

So we can interpret nominee answers that aren't word-perfect, and so the verification step isn't swayed by emotion. A human reviewer can be pressured, rushed or talked into bending the rules; an automated check with fixed waits and logs doesn't play that game. AI helps with messy answers; it doesn't skip the interview, the automated checks or the waiting period.
